For families

We asked Ventura County parents what gets in the way.

Before building anything, we launched a Community Needs Assessment for parents, guardians, and caregivers across the county. The responses are shaping what we fund first.

What families told us

So far the message is consistent: families want their kids in activities, they know what their kids would choose, and the thing standing in the way is money — usually a few hundred dollars at the wrong moment. Many of the families who said so would not qualify for traditional assistance programs.

"If cost were not a problem, what would your kids want to do?" — the question that gets the longest answers.
